The Sun Is Back!
Spring riding is brilliant, but inconsistent. It's often still cold and damp, and we know how frustrating these changing conditions can be.
So we've pulled together our best advice for getting back on the bike this spring!
1. Layering

You don't have to pack away your winter kit, just adjust it slightly. Early starts are still cold, Wind chill doesn't care that the calendar says March.
A heated mid layer on a lower setting makes a big difference. Just keeping your core warm enough so that the rest of you stays comfortable. Something simple that you can run on low heat through the morning and forget about once the sun really starts to show.
2. Be ready for the change

6°C in the morning, 14°C by the afternoon, That's a normal day of spring in the UK.
If you only dress for the cold weather you'll be too warm later on, and if you only dress for the warmth, you'll be too cold to start off. This is why you have to be ready for the change.
Adjustable warmth, controlling heat without a full wardrobe change. It sounds simple but it changes the whole feel of a ride.
3. Take it steady

Spring roads aren't as clean as they look.
Shaded bends hold onto moisture and morning dew sits on the surface longer than you expect. After a wet night there can still be patches that have not dried by the time you head out.
You just needs a little awareness, care, and patience on cold tyres.
4. A proper check

If the bike has been parked up more than usual, give it a good look over.
Tyre pressure can be unreliable with temperature changes and your chain could need attention. Batteries also deserve a check before you rely on them for a full day out.
Takes a bit of time but in the grand scheme of things, it's definitely worth it.
Why heated gear still makes sense in spring

Heated kit isn't just for freezing winter.
On lower settings it can simply smooth out the cold from your ride. It keeps your core stable in the morning, and stops your hands from stiffening up before the day even starts.
We want you to ride (obviously), but just go in prepared.
