The J505 is classified as an EXTREME garment because it delivers 25% more heat output than a standard KEIS jacket, making it the warmest option in the lineup. It's specifically designed for riders who face sub-zero temperatures, long winter rides, or are particularly sensitive to windchill and need maximum thermal performance. This added power is especially useful for commuters, adventure riders, and year-round tourers.
Do I still need to wear an outer jacket over the J505?
Yes. While the J505 is insulated and wind-resistant, it is still considered a mid-layer and is not abrasion-resistant or waterproof on its own. Riders should wear a protective motorcycle outer jacket over the top, but thanks to the J505’s warmth and wind-blocking ability, that outer layer can be lighter or less insulated than what might otherwise be required.
Can I connect other KEIS garments to the J505?
Absolutely. The jacket includes a central power hub that lets you plug in other KEIS heated gear, such as gloves, trousers, or socks. This allows riders to operate all heated garments from a single power source, reducing clutter and simplifying setup, especially useful for those gearing up in colder months.
Is the jacket adjustable in terms of heat levels?
Yes, the J505 includes a standard KEIS power controller, which allows you to adjust heat levels on the go. You can opt for either a standard controller or upgrade to the Bluetooth controller for simple controls on a mobile app. This lets you tailor warmth based on the weather, your activity level, or personal comfort preference.
Is the jacket safe to wear directly on the skin?
While the inner lining of the J505 is soft and comfortable, KEIS always recommends wearing it over a thin base layer for the best experience. This helps regulate moisture, promotes better heat distribution, and adds a layer of insulation between the body and the heating elements, especially when used for extended periods.
How is the jacket powered, and what are the options?
The J505 can be powered in two ways. It can connect directly to the bike using the supplied KEIS vehicle supply lead, offering continuous heat for longer rides. It can also be powered by a KEIS portable battery pack, sold separately, which is ideal for short trips or off bike warmth. The jacket includes an internal battery pocket designed specifically to house this pack securely and conveniently. Due to the extra power output of the J505, this battery is only expected to run for around 45 to 60 minutes on medium heat.
